The Memorial Tower in Kangaroo Ground War Memorial Park is one of the highest places in Melbourne. Originally built as a World War 1 memorial, it is presently used to monitor bushfires during the bushfire season. The grounds around the tower feature a pine sapling planted on 11 November 2005; it was taken from the original Lone Pine growing on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey.
